Our Voices: Meet Tyler from our Holyoke Xfinity Store and Learn About His Favorite Accessibility Features

Our Comcast employees live and work in the communities we serve, and every day, they show their passion for bringing our customers the best products, best network and best customer experience. Tyler, a retail consultant at our Holyoke (MA) Xfinity Store, is a product expert available to show customers how to get the most value out of their Xfinity services, including Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Internet, Xfinity X1, Xfinity Home and Xfinity Voice. Along with the rest of our Holyoke store team, Tyler is also on hand to help customers upgrade or swap equipment, answer questions, pay a bill and more.

Q: Tell us about your role here at Comcast.

A: I joined the Xfinity Store team in Holyoke this past spring. Prior to starting my career at Comcast, I took care of my grandfather who suffered from Parkinson’s disease. It was his wish to not have to go into a nursing facility, so I left my previous job to take care of him full time.

Q: What Xfinity products would you recommend?

A: Since taking care of my grandfather, I have a greater appreciation for assistive technology and how it can make life easier for people with disabilities and their caretakers – and Comcast builds products with accessibility in mind. Although they are useful to all our customers, the top two products and features I would recommend to anyone with a disability are the Xfinity Voice Remote and Xfinity Home Self Protection cameras.

The Xfinity Voice Remote offers the capability to speak into your remote to switch to a station or your favorite show, rather than having to maneuver buttons. This makes for a more independent experience for people with muscle impairment. Xfinity Home Self Protection cameras offer the ability to check in on loved ones via a smart phone or tablet and are especially beneficial in the event of a fall in the home, which can be catastrophic. You can even set up your cameras to be alerted every time they sense a movement.

Q: What do you like best about your Xfinity Store team?
A: All of my co-workers at the Holyoke Xfinity Store!  They are always willing to pause what they’re doing to help – whether it’s to ensure our customers have the best experience or to assist another store associate. I couldn’t ask for a nicer bunch of co-workers, who have turned into friends.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of your job?

A: I enjoy fishing, reading, and helping others. I’m also a huge sports fan and like to collect sports memorabilia. When I’m not out playing soccer and hockey with my friends, I enjoy watching Boston and New England sports teams (of course!), so I’ll use the Xfinity X1 Sports App to easily access live games, check scores and highlights of other games currently in progress. The TV also alerts me when my favorite teams are playing.
