Comcast Donates Laptop Computers to Falmouth Service Center

Comcast is donating 86 laptop computers to the Falmouth Service Center, a nonprofit organization that serves as a local food pantry and provides assistance to local Cape Cod residents in need. The laptops were distributed to families during the organization’s annual back-to-school event to support their students as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

This marks the second consecutive year Comcast has partnered with the Falmouth Service Center to provide digital opportunities for families. This year’s donation was made at the specific request of the nonprofit to assist new patrons in need of a device.

“Once again, Comcast listened to our needs and has delivered for our local residents,” said Kerin Delaney, Executive Director of the Falmouth Service Center. “Connecting individuals and families we serve with new laptops – along with continued affordable Internet options such as NOW and Internet Essentials – will help local residents most in need.”

Comcast has long been committed to offering eligible individuals and families Internet Essentials, the most comprehensive and successful low-income broadband adoption program in the nation. Internet Essentials has helped connect more than 10 million low-income households to broadband service at home – including over 801,000 Massachusetts residents in the past decade. Customers can also get instant access to NOW products – quality, reliable low-cost Internet, mobile and streaming TV products that they can purchase on a prepaid, month-to-month basis, whenever they want.

Numerous local residents expressed their delight with the laptop donation. Susan M., a mother, exclaimed with tears in her eyes, “For us?! I can’t thank you enough. This will make my life so much better!”

Maria R. shared, “I no longer have to use a phone to fill out online forms – this is so amazing! Thank you so much.”

Advancing digital opportunity is an important priority for Comcast. Through Project UP, our $1 billion initiative to connect people to the Internet, we’re working to expand access to digital skills training focused on helping individuals and families unlock their full potential in an increasingly digital world.

In addition to this latest donation to the Falmouth Service Center, Comcast has launched a variety of community partnerships that directly benefit local residents. These include:

Comcast has also turbo-charged its next-generation network in Falmouth. As of last year, customers have access to 2 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) download speeds and up to 10x faster upload speeds – all delivered over the existing connections in homes and businesses.

“We have a proven track record of supporting local nonprofits and investing in our network to build a future of unlimited possibilities for the community,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “We’re proud to partner with the Falmouth Service Center and help advance digital opportunities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents.”
