At Comcast, military engagement is deeply rooted in our culture, going back decades to our founder, U.S. Navy veteran Ralph Roberts. Our commitment to supporting veterans in the military reaches every part of our business – from providing a top workplace for veterans to supporting veterans’ organizations in the communities we serve and providing exclusive benefits to military customers.
This Veterans and Military Families Month, we thank service members and their families – our customers, team members and partners. We’re proud to support the military community across the country and, here, in New England. Following are a few examples of how we’re giving back to those who have served, including an opportunity for you to Team UP with Comcast to provide some holiday cheer to service members overseas.
Supporting Veteran’s Organizations in Our Communities to Bridge the Digital Divide
Comcast is deeply committed to advancing digital equity in the communities we serve through Project UP, our company’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators.
These grants and partnerships include several local nonprofit organizations delivering digital skills training and certifications to help veterans and military spouses upskill and compete in today’s digital jobs market. For example, we recently awarded a grant to Easterseals Veterans Rally Point in Connecticut and donated an interactive video screen to Falmouth Community Veterans Center in Massachusetts to connect area veterans to information and entertainment.
Empowering Our People
An award-winning company for service members and their families, Comcast is committed to creating an inclusive work environment for our military teammates. One of the ways we do this is through our Veterans Network (VetNet) Employee Resource Group, which provides networking and community service opportunities.
It was VetNet members who launched Comcast’s Operation Old Glory program, a unique initiative to honor our nation’s symbol and people’s individual connections to the American flag in the communities we serve. Through this program, our dedicated teammates work together to replace worn or damaged flags outside homes and businesses at no cost to the property owners.
What’s Next
For the third year, we are proud to work with Boxes to Boots, a Connecticut-based nonprofit, during its annual “Operations Cares” activation.
On November 16, local team members will work alongside Boxes to Boots volunteers at New Britain High School to wrap and ship over 1,500 holiday care packages to those serving overseas. Our support of Boxes to Boots is part of Team UP, Comcast’s national employee volunteer program that provides opportunities for everyone to get more involved in their local communities.

Boxes to Boots created a list of preferred items, including individually wrapped food items, travel-sized hygiene products and other small essentials. Through November 10, you can purchase any of these items and drop them off at one of our 11 Connecticut Xfinity Stores:
