We’re excited to share the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce awarded Comcast its Sharon Clemons Equity & Inclusive Opportunity Award at its 229th Annual Meeting and Business Leadership Awards.
The Sharon Clemons Equity & Inclusive Opportunity Award is given to an organization that recognizes the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion across its business and has gone beyond formulaic commitment to actionable steps and a clear understanding of how to achieve its desired outcomes. Not only that, but the business has also shown a commitment to creating opportunity, promoting inclusion, and reducing inequities across Greater New Haven.
According to Garrett Sheehan, President and CEO of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, “Comcast is achieving the standards that we recognize with this award. Comcast’s Project UP initiative to advance digital equity has demonstrated their commitment to provide underserved communities with tools to participate in the digital world. Through their Lift Zones program, they have connected underserved communities with Internet access in community centers nationwide. Through the Comcast RISE program, they have supported 13,000 small businesses hardest hit by COVID-19 by providing over $110 million in grants. Through these programs and with their internal efforts, it is clear they have integrated equity and inclusive opportunities into their business model and have gone above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to inclusive growth.”
