Comcast’s Network in Massachusetts: Built for Today’s Needs and Tomorrow’s Innovations

Comcast in Massachusetts

Massachusetts residents don’t just want a broadband network that’s fast – they want one that’s built for the future. At Comcast, we deliver just that. Through Xfinity and Comcast Business, we provide fast, reliable, and smart connected experiences – at home, on the go, and to businesses of all sizes.

Speed & Reliability You Can Count On

Over the past three years in the Commonwealth, Comcast invested $866 million in infrastructure and technology to ensure our network stays fast, smart, and resilient, even as connectivity usage skyrockets.

We deliver gigabit-plus speeds to 100% of our Massachusetts footprint, spanning nearly 250 communities, which means customers in the most rural areas of Western Massachusetts receive the same exact speeds as customers in the heart of Boston.

Comcast also began rolling out multi-gig speeds to residents and small businesses over their existing connections. In areas like Falmouth, Holyoke, Longmeadow, Springfield, Southwick, West Springfield, and Westfield, customers can now enjoy 2 gigabits per second download speeds and up to 10x faster upload speeds.

“Providing the best WiFi experience in and out of the home for our customers across Massachusetts is a priority for Comcast,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President, Comcast New England Region.

Clear Pricing. No Surprises.

We’ve made it easier than ever to choose Xfinity. Our new pricing structure features four simple Internet tiers — all with unlimited data, no hidden fees, and our powerful Xfinity WiFi Gateway included.

With new plans starting at just $55/month, customers can opt into a 1- or 5-year price guarantee, and enjoy one unlimited line of Xfinity Mobile free for an entire year

Partnering for Statewide Connectivity

Massachusetts is one of the most connected states in the country with high-speed Internet available to more than 99% of homes and businesses.

Through our partnership with the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), Comcast continues to work alongside state and local officials to further expand broadband to the remaining unserved homes and businesses in the Commonwealth.

As part of this effort, we were awarded grant funding through the latest round of the MBI’s Residential Retrofit Program to upgrade network infrastructure in over 5,000 public and affordable housing units — helping Massachusetts move even closer to 100% connectivity.

Security That Works Around the Clock

Cyber threats are real with over 2,200 attacks happening every day. Comcast’s security teams work 24/7, 365 to protect you, using advanced tools that detect and block hundreds of thousands of threats per second.

We go beyond the tech, too. In towns like Southwick and Longmeadow, our local teams hosted cybersecurity workshops for older adults, helping more people stay safe from phishing scams and online fraud.

“Comcast’s cybersecurity workshop provided invaluable, practical advice for each of our local seniors in attendance. In fact, it was so impactful, we believe they will be able to teach their grandkids a lesson about cybersecurity,” said Heather Marchetta, Director of Adult Services for the Richard Salter Storrs Library in Longmeadow.

Connecting Local Businesses

Comcast Business is the backbone of more small businesses nationwide than any other provider – including here in Massachusetts. From fast, reliable Internet to advanced cybersecurity and managed solutions, we help businesses stay connected and competitive.

In Southwick, we celebrated family-owned restaurant The Summer House’s  45 years in business. They count on Comcast Business Internet to power daily operations and deliver the kind of customer experience that keeps guests coming back, setting them up for decades more success.

We’re also investing directly in entrepreneurs through Comcast RISE, which awarded grants to 100 Greater Boston small businesses this year.

As Eric Esteves, Executive Director of Boston Main Streets Foundation, put it: “Bringing small businesses grant resources is central to our mission, and we look forward to seeing these Boston businesses thrive with help from Comcast RISE.”

Investing in Communities, Expanding Opportunity

With Project UP, our $1 billion initiative to advance digital opportunity, we’re helping more people get online and thrive. In Massachusetts, that includes:

  • 801,000 low-income residents connected to the Internet in the last 10 years through Internet Essentials, our affordable, high-speed Internet program.
  • 77 Lift Zones offering a free WiFi solution in community centers, nonprofits, and recreational facilities, including a new location in Westhampton that we opened recently.

Ready for Storms, Committed to Recovery

Massachusetts weather can be unpredictable, but our network isn’t. Comcast prepares for inclement weather year-round by reinforcing infrastructure, pre-staging generators, and coordinating with emergency responders.

When a national disaster hits, our Storm Team One can also mobilize hundreds of engineers and technicians to restore service quickly and safely. And with 130,000 employees nationwide, we have the scale and expertise to support communities when they need it most.

Final Takeaway

Comcast’s network isn’t just built for today: it’s built for what’s next. Whether you’re a customer that is streaming movies at home, running a small business with cloud apps, or preparing the town for the future, we’re here to connect everyone — faster, safer, and smarter.
