Operation Old Glory: Honoring the American Flag and Supporting Our Military Community

Comcast has launched a pilot program on Cape Cod to offer residents a new way to obtain or replace their American flag for display at their homes. The initiative kicked off with a special event at the Falmouth Xfinity Store, where Comcast was joined by local veterans from the Falmouth Community Veterans Center.
“Comcast is no stranger to the local military community,” said Carissa April, President of the Board of Directors for Joe Q Veterans Coffee Break, which is the operator of the Falmouth Community Veterans Center. “They answered our call of need last year with an interactive screen for the entryway, and we’re delighted to partner with them again to build awareness about this meaningful flag replacement program.”
Comcast also continues to offer Operation Old Glory, a long-standing program that replaces worn or damaged flags outside homes and businesses at no cost to the property owners. Local Comcast teams, some of whom are veterans or active reservists, volunteer their time to identify and replace worn flags throughout the community.
“We’ve been replacing flags for years and this pilot makes it even easier for residents to get an American flag by simply visiting one of our local Xfinity Stores on the Cape and Islands,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “We’re proud to work with partners like the Falmouth Community Veterans Center who share our commitment to the military community.”
Replacement flags are available at the following Xfinity Store locations while supplies last:
Cape Cod:
- Falmouth: 352 Main Street
- Hyannis: Cape Cod Mall (793 Iyannough Road)
- Orleans: 15 Locust Road
- South Yarmouth: 10 Old Townhouse Road
Additionally, flag replacement kits are available at the following Xfinity Store locations:

Each flag replacement kit includes instructions for the proper retirement of worn flags, in accordance with the United States Flag Code, which calls for flags to be ceremoniously retired with dignity.
