Comcast Awards $10,000 Grant to Hartford Public Library’s HPL Studios to Expand Digital Opportunity

Comcast announced a $10,000 grant to Hartford Public Library’s HPL Studios, a public recording and film facility dedicated to teaching technical and creative skills to community members. The grant supports a series of free content production workshops, which kicked off today. The series includes introductory courses in podcasting, live sound, digital filmmaking and audio production. Workshops will continue through December 10 and are open to the public. Interested participants can register through the HPL Studios website.
“This grant from Comcast allows us to teach community members new technical and creative skills so they can thrive in an increasingly digital world,” said Bridget E. Quinn, President and CEO of Hartford Public Library. “As HPL Studios grows into a gathering space for storytellers and rising professionals, we are proud to have Comcast’s support as we foster both creative expression and digital literacy.”
“I’ve seen firsthand how Comcast’s investment has opened doors for our residents, empowering them to realize their full potential in ways we hadn’t imagined before,” said Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam. “By expanding access to the Internet and providing resources for skill-building and career exploration, Comcast’s partnership with the Hartford Public Library is connecting our community and fueling Hartford’s growth. We’re committed to ensuring every resident has the tools and confidence to navigate the digital world, and this collaboration is another step towards building a city that meets the needs of all who call Hartford home.”

This grant from Comcast is part of Project UP, Comcast’s comprehensive $1 billion initiative to connect people to the Internet, provide digital opportunity and build a future of unlimited possibilities.
“Comcast is proud to create opportunities for individuals and families across the Hartford community to use digital tools that can improve their daily lives,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “Our partnership with HPL Studios is about uplifting voices and teaching digital skills that could inspire new career paths or creative projects.”
