Comcast Unveils Interactive Video Screens at Three Quincy, MA Nonprofits to Improve Community Engagement

Comcast recently unveiled an interactive video screen at Father Bill’s & Mainspring in Quincy, MA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing homelessness through emergency and permanent supportive housing, workforce development and digital literacy programs. The smart screen will serve as a vital tool to help patrons access timely information about community events along with distance learning opportunities. Additionally, the smart screens will help build digital skills for users, from learning email to delivering slide presentations explaining to peers how they can access local social services.
“The interactive video screen fills a need for our guests to have easy and reliable access to important local information,” said John Yazwinski, President and CEO of Father Bill’s & Mainspring. “Thanks to Comcast, this screen will help inform and connect them with the resources they need to thrive. Additionally, it will foster and develop digital skills that could lead to job opportunities for our guests.”
In addition to the screen, Comcast provided 20 graduates of the organization’s digital literacy class with brand-new laptops during the event, supporting their continued growth and access to opportunity. Team UP volunteers were also on hand to assist with setup and engage with local residents.
Similar interactive screens were installed at the Woodward School, which serves young women in Quincy, and Vinfen, which provides life skills seminars (including digital literacy) for people with intellectual and behavioral disabilities. These locations were selected after input from city officials to ensure they meet the greatest community needs and deliver meaningful impact.
“At Comcast, we’re proud to partner with Father Bill’s & MainSpring, Vinfen and the Woodward School to keep Quincy residents connected to the tools and resources they need to thrive in today’s digital world,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “These interactive screens offer a modern, accessible way for organizations to share vital information with their communities.”
Comcast is deeply committed to providing digital opportunities in the communities it serves through Project UP, the company’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital opportunity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, drives economic mobility and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators.
