Vermont Adult Learning Opens New Windham County Location with Support from Comcast Technology Grant

Comcast and Vermont Adult Learning

Vermont Adult Learning (VAL) proudly welcomed community members, local businesses and prospective students to an open house at its new Windham County Learning Center, located at 113 Technology Drive. The event showcased the transformative impact of adult education and celebrated a $20,000 grant from Comcast supporting the Center’s new Digital Learning Lab, which expands digital literacy and technology access.

During the open house, guests toured the facility and experienced the wide range of resources available to adult learners in Windham County, including the Center’s new Digital Learning Lab, made possible through Comcast’s generous support. The lab provides enhanced Internet connectivity and digital skills training, with a focus on computer literacy, workforce readiness, and career development. These resources are especially valuable for those working toward a high school diploma, GED, or English language proficiency, and those preparing for college and careers.

“We are incredibly grateful to Comcast for supporting our mission, and proud of our students and the dedication of our teaching staff,” said Matthew Bentley, VAL’s Regional Director for Windham County. “This open house was a way to celebrate their hard work and show our community what’s possible when we invest in adult education. Everyone, students, families, businesses, donors, community partners, legislators, and neighbors, came out to see the positive change happening right here in Brattleboro.”

“At Comcast, we believe that access to the Internet is the foundation for opportunity,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “We’re proud to support Vermont Adult Learning through this grant, which will expand digital opportunity by funding essential technology programs, upgrading 11 computers, and enabling the purchase of 30 new Chromebooks. Together, we’re helping more Vermonters gain the tools and skills they need to succeed in today’s digital world.”

This grant from Comcast is part of Project UP, Comcast’s initiative to connect people to the Internet, create digital opportunity, and build a future of unlimited possibilities. This includes digital programs such as Internet EssentialsLift Zones, and Digital Navigators.
