Comcast donated 50 laptops to Girls Inc. of New Hampshire to assist Nashua families in need and support the organization’s mission of equipping girls to reach their full potential. This donation is part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators.
“We’re delighted with this generous gift from Comcast,” said Sharron McCarthy, CEO of Girls Inc. of New Hampshire. “Connecting the girls we serve with new laptops will help Nashua-based families most in need of assistance.”
“Comcast made the day so special,” said Katie M., a Nashua resident. “My daughter was so surprised by the new laptop and her smile went on for days.”
“We have a longstanding commitment to Nashua, and we understand the important role that the Internet and digital literacy play in helping to build a future of unlimited possibilities,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “We are proud to support Girls Inc. to ensure more young girls have the tools, resources and opportunities they need to participate and excel in an increasingly digital world.”
Families received the laptops last month at a Hunt.Fish.Feed. dinner hosted in partnership with the Sportsman Channel, where Comcast volunteers prepared and provided meals created by Sportsman Channel Chef Paul Gomes for members of Girls Inc. and their families. Hunt.Fish.Feed. is the Sportsman Channel’s unique outreach program that taps into an underutilized food source – game meat and fish – to feed those struggling with hunger across America. The meal featured venison tacos to demonstrate that venison can be a kid-friendly option.
In Nashua, Comcast provides Internet, mobile, and entertainment from Xfinity to residents, and connectivity, networking, cybersecurity, mobile, and managed solutions from Comcast Business to businesses. The company is deeply committed to advancing digital equity in the communities it serves. Since its inception in 2011, Comcast’s Internet Essentials has connected more than 10 million low-income Americans to broadband service at home, including more than 72,000 in New Hampshire. Additionally, Comcast has launched more than 1,250 Lift Zones in community centers nationwide – with nine locations in New Hampshire – to provide students and families with free, high-speed WiFi and digital skills training.
