Our Voices: How Comcast Got Involved During Pride Month in New England

Comcast at Middletown PrideFest

At Comcast, we’re dedicated to making an impact on our communities and celebrating diversity, equity and inclusion year-round. This June, we’ve been observing Pride Month by participating in local events, strengthening our community partnerships and highlighting LGBTQ+ content across our Xfinity platforms.

Here are some ways we’ve been celebrating Pride:

Participating in Local Pride Events:

Throughout the month, Comcast employees took part in several Pride events by marching in parades and hosting booths at festivals across New England as part of Team UP, our employee volunteer program. These include:

  • North Shore Pride Parade and Festival, in Salem, MA
  • Pride South Coast, in New Bedford, MA
  • PrideFEST in Middletown, CT
  • The Pride Parade and Festival in Manchester, NH
  • Windham Pride in Windham, NH
  • Rutland County Pride Festival in Rutland, VT

A couple of our employees shared what their participation in these events meant to them:

Diego, Assistant Xfinity Store Manager who participated in Pride South Coast in New Bedford, MA: “It was heartwarming to see so many people, businesses and organizations coming together to support love and acceptance in all its forms. Pride isn’t just about the festivities; it’s about embracing who you are and celebrating your journey without fear or judgement.

Jen, Project Manager based in New Hampshire: “It meant a lot to me that Comcast was a part of these events and that my colleagues and I were able to make connections within these communities. During these events, I especially enjoyed handing out Pride-themed Xfinity items, including remote control stickers that reinforce Comcast’s Pride in day-to-day life. I also liked being able to share a QR code that links people to open job listings within Comcast, because it really is an inclusive place to work.”

Jen is also the lead for the region’s OUT Employee Resource Group, whose mission is to create an environment where everyone – including LGBTQ employees and their allies – is comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work every day. OUT provides leadership, networking, development and volunteer opportunities to its LGBTQ+ and straight ally members.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

Comcast takes pride in forging relationships with LGBTQ+ nonprofits with which we partner in a variety of ways, including providing grants, volunteering and storytelling.  Here in New England, some of these organizations include North Shore Alliance of GLBTQ Youth (NAGLY), Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY), South Coast LGBTQ Network, The Network/La Red and Transhealth in Massachusetts; PrideFEST in Middletown, Connecticut; Outright Vermont and Harbor Camp in New Hampshire.

Pride Content on Xfinity

Xfinity’s LGBTQ+ Film & TV destination on X1, Flex and Xumo Stream Box is available year-round, and connects LGBTQ+ viewers and their allies to a growing collection of entertainment from across hundreds of networks and streaming services in one simple, curated experience. Customers can find these collections, features, and more by simply saying “Pride” into their voice remote.

Additionally, some of our New England Comcast employees shared their favorite LGBTQ+ shows and movies on Peacock. Check out their recommendations:

  • Philadelphia
  • The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
