Xfinity Communities and Southern Connecticut State University Team up to Bring Managed WiFi and Xfinity On Campus for Students

Xfinity Communities has partnered with Southern Connecticut State University to provide residents with its Managed WiFi and Xfinity On Campus services to their students. This partnership will provide enhanced WiFi coverage in campus dormitories and allow students to watch live TV, video on demand and recorded content on their IP-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, connected TV platforms such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV devices, as well as Samsung and LG smart TVs. Both services are included with room and board for students living in on-campus housing.

“We are excited to partner with Xfinity to offer our residential students dedicated WiFi coverage and a wide variety of streaming channels that support mobile use and a range of TV platforms. We anticipate that these new services will enhance our students’ educational and entertainment experiences at Southern and beyond,” said Robert Yanez, Southern Connecticut State University Director of Residence Life.

Managed WiFi provides students with the best Internet experience offering a fast and reliable connection they can count on around campus.  With Managed WiFi, students connect directly to access points without the need for additional equipment or installation.

Xfinity On Campus offers student access to live and on-demand content from every major broadcast network and dozens of cable networks like AMC, Bravo, ESPN, FX, and MTV through the Xfinity Stream app and website. Students at SCSU will also find TVs in common areas providing access to the same programming so they can enjoy watching content together with fellow students. While off campus, students can use the Xfinity Stream app to log in and access TV Everywhere programming that’s part of their subscription.

“Bringing Managed WiFi and Xfinity on Campus to Southern Connecticut State University is a tremendous value add for students who rely on a reliable WiFi connection and who like to consume content while on the move, at their convenience, and across multiple devices,” said Carolyne Hannan, Regional Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Western New England Region.  “With Xfinity On Campus, they can tune in to live sports and news across dozens of channels, catch up on hit TV shows on demand, and even record their favorite content to watch later – all included with the cost of their room and board.”

To register for the Xfinity on Campus service, students can visit https://xfinityoncampus.com, type in “SCSU” and authenticate with their student username and password.
