Our Voices: Meet James, a member of Comcast’s Black Employee Network

Comcast is committed to amplifying diverse voices, advancing equity and fostering inclusion. As we honor Black History Month, we spoke to James, a technical operations supervisor based in Danbury, Connecticut, who makes sure our products and services “wow” customers from the moment they’re installed in their homes and businesses, and who participates in one of Comcast’s employee resource groups, Black Employee Network.

Q: What do you like best about your job here at Comcast?

A: I love the daily interactions that I get to have with my team at Comcast as a technical operations supervisor. I’m also grateful for my involvement with our Black Employee Network, which provides opportunities to give back to my fellow employees and the communities in which we live and work.

Q: Who is someone that inspires you to be your best self and why?

A: My two sons inspire me to be my best self every day. As they get older, they are beginning to compete in sports like track and field and basketball and I’m starting to see a lot of myself in them. This reminds me that they’re always watching and learning from my actions, so I strive to set the best example possible at work and at home.

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone from history, who would it be and why?

A: I think having a conversation with Harriet Tubman would be incredible because of the impact she’s had on everyone’s lives, not just people of color. She was a pioneer during a time when there was no example set for her, and she did everything she could to save the lives of her family members, in addition to liberating slaves and advocating for women. I would love to know what drove her to be so courageous.

Q: What do you enjoy watching on the Black Experience on Xfinity?

A: My favorite network on the Black Experience on Xfinity is REVOLT TV. REVOLT TV covers a wide range of programming, from a hip-hop podcast called Drink Champs, to a show called Bet on Black, a series that highlights Black-owned businesses and empowers Black entrepreneurs.

The Black Experience on Xfinity, launched in February 2021, is a first-of-its-kind destination of movies, TV shows, news and more. Curated by industry leaders, Black Experience features high-quality content from many of Xfinity’s existing network partners, while investing millions of dollars in fostering and showcasing emerging Black content creators. The channel is included with your Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex service at no additional cost.

Find the channel by saying “Black Experience” into your Xfinity Voice Remote, or if you have a Xfinity X1 or non-X1 TV Box, tune to channel 1622; or from the On Demand menu, choose Black Experience on Xfinity.  Xfinity Internet-only customers can watch on Xfinity Flex or the Xfinity Stream app.
