Our Voices: Meet Colby, a Comcast Business Technician in Vermont
Our Comcast employees live in the communities we serve and every day they’re making sure our customers have the best products, best network, and best customer experience. Colby Delaire, a Senior Technician, has vast experience and knowledge with our products, which means he works throughout Vermont to bring Comcast Business customers the most innovative services available.
We spoke with Colby about his work at Comcast and why he loves his job. Read the following Q&A to learn what he had to say:
Q: How long have you been with Comcast and what is your current role?
A: I started with Comcast in 2007. I’m a Senior Technician with the Business Priority team, so I install our suite of Comcast Business products for companies across the Green Mountain State. Because my technical expertise is so varied, I often get pulled into jobs across the state rather than just a few towns in one area of Vermont.
Q: What is the best part of your job?
A: The best part of my job is that I get to be a problem solver for our customers. My job is part detective because I have to ask probing questions to make sure our customers have the best Comcast Business products and services to run their business. Based on how they’re using our services, and what their needs are, I can offer solutions that are tailored to them.
Q: How do you make a difference in your role?
A: Sometimes I become a sympathetic listener for customers, which I think is an important part of the customer experience. My fellow technicians and I are a pretty friendly group and we’ve got the technical know-how to fix problems fast, but some jobs require more than just coming in, doing our job, and leaving. Especially now, while we’re working during an extraordinary time, a lot of people are stressed out. Taking a little extra time to listen to our customers enables us to show we care and that we’re proud of what we do on the job and in our community.
Q: How do you make a difference in your Community?
A: At Comcast, I’ve participated in beautification projects in the community. Outside of work, I’m on my 20th year serving with Station 1 for Colchester Vermont Fire where I am the battalion chief. I’m also a leader for my son and daughter’s scouting troops and I teach Hunter Education for the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife. I like to stay busy and keep people safe.
Q: What is your favorite Comcast product and why?
A: My favorite product has to be Xfinity Home for the peace of mind and the cool technology. The cameras are easy to use and allow you to hear what’s going on with the new audio function. Other features include sensors for doors, windows, motion, and water, as well as smoke detectors that you can connect to Xfinity Home. With Xfinity Home, users can also remotely turn their lights on and off, lock and unlock their doors and lower or turn up their thermostat. All of these security and automation features are in one product rather than needing a number of separate solutions or apps and make Xfinity Home a well-rounded product.
