Comcast Opens Free Xfinity WiFi Service to Aid Residents and Emergency Personnel Across Northeast

Our hearts go out to those impacted by Storm Riley this past Friday and those who may be impacted by Storm Quinn this week in the northeast. To help residents and emergency personnel stay connected during this time, we opened Xfinity WiFi hotspots across 14 northeastern states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia, to anyone who needs them, including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. The Xfinity WiFi hotspots will remain open today through March 12, 2018.

For a map of the Xfinity WiFi hotspots, which are located primarily throughout busy shopping districts and businesses, residents can visit www.Xfinity.com/wifi. Once in range of a hotspot, they should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.

Xfinity internet customers can sign in with their usernames and passwords, and they will be automatically connected to Xfinity WiFi hotspots in the future.

Non-Xfinity internet subscribers should visit the “Not an Xfinity Internet Customer” section on the sign-in page to get started. Non-customers will be able to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours through March 12, 2018.

And, the following are service tips for our customers during severe weather events:

  • Use your Xfinity apps on your mobile devices so you can stay connected when it matters most.
  • The most effective way to get outage updates and information about Comcast services is to visit Xfinity.com/MyAccount or to access the Xfinity My Account app from any mobile device.
  • If customers have electrical power but Xfinity service has not yet come back on, Comcast recommends that customers restart or reset devices, including wireless gateways, modems, routers and cable boxes.

As always, Comcast’s goal is to restore any services affected as soon as it is safe for our employees to do so. If Comcast services are down in an area due to a power outage, local power must be restored before video, phone, home security and internet services can begin working again.
